First Snow

October 11, 2010

I smell winter coming. Even in the virtual world, furry hats and boots and warm coats are starting to appear. Leluka had some new releases this week and I fell truly, madly, deeply in love with this lumberjack coat. The bell shape that swirls out, the strong plaid fabric and the huge fur collar make it a real winner. I had just bought the fur hat from tram which happens to be a perfect match. The hat comes with and without (as worn here) a bow that ties under your neck. The boots are from DPYumYum. They have been in my closet for a year but..Wow..I think they are the same plaid. \o/   The hair is from BarberYumyum (modded to fit under the hat) and is new. I love the way some of the prim bits in this hair move when you turn your head…so pretty!  The necklace is from Yummy. I have so many of Polyester Partridge’s creations..all of them are so cute…this one is a bunch of charms on a gold chain. ❤  (I think I would buy them just because I love her name.) The skinny wrap belt is an old favorite from Shiny Things. It has a little pouch on it for your virtual money.  More details and landmarks after the cut. Click on any photo for a more detailed, hi-res version.  Keep warm!  Brrrrrrr, Elisabeth   Read the rest of this entry »

Most of us know the story of Rumpelstiltskin. You know…the story of the miller’s daughter who, under the threat of death, was locked in a tower for 3 days by the king because he was told she could spin straw into gold (she couldn’t). The dwarf Rumelstiltskin who could but drove a hard bargain (her first born child). The dwarf spun lots of gold and made the king and the miller’s daughter both very happy. But… let’s just say when the time came she didn’t want to honor her bargain and (thinking she never could) the dwarf agreed he would let her off the hook if she could guess his name (she did.) Lucky for us…several sl designers seem to be spinning straw into gold and we only have to give up a few lindens (we can keep our first-born and no guessing games involved.)

For starters, Ce Cubic Effect has made this wonderful dress/top that is a golden, straw-colored, loose-weave linen fabric. It is done with all the usual panache of Ce Cubic Effect. The Muism pants are a golden beige…. also in a linen look fabric. The pants come with two lengths, the one shown and an ankle-length version. All the accessories are golden. LG Boutique makes the wonderful straw bag which is available in both large and small sizes and many other colors. ❤ Gyorgyna! Donna Flora’s golden necklace has a bit of fabric shot through with golden threads that emphasize the beautiful stones. The pumps are from Pixel Mode and are must-haves (they are also available with socks). By the way, the fantastic tat is from Zahir by Astrid Soon. I love tattoos with writing! See ya, Elisabeth

Wrapping it up

LeeZu1

LeeZu2I know you have seen this LeeZu top before as it is certainly not new and has been blogged many times. I am even wearing some really old pants from Last Call! But I really liked this outfit… so I decided to do a quick post…. The new things ( at least to me ) are the fabulous Cleo skin from Dutch Touch, the Maitreya hair and scarf and the brooch from LaGyo.  The messenger bag from Musim I’ve had since October but…oh…I really love it. I don’t want to admit to how many purses and bags I have in my virtual closet but suffice it to say…A LOT! And this really is one of the best. It’s beautifully made and comes with several poses—and good poses included with a purse make a huge difference as far as I am concerned. If you are just taking pictures you can do adjust the bag however you like, but if you want to walk around holding the purse and have it look good, you need the right poses that actually fit the bag. Of course we expect top quality from Musim and this bag is one example of how they do deliver. The Maitreya scarf—which actually comes in two parts—is fantastic. You can buy it with the hair already attached or if you are comfortable with modifying hair, you can use your own hair and just make it fit under the scarf. Whichever way you go, it is fantastic. Trés chic.  Finally I want to say that the brooch is really amazing. LaGyo is making some of the most interesting jewelry on the grid now…everytime I go in there I end buying something. So a warning, if you don’t want to spend lindens…don’t go!  🙂
Got to run….

Mi-Mi-Mi-Mimikri!

MimikriJacketlarge

Wow! I just found my all-time favorite leather jacket! Mimikri Kit has really outdone herself this time. When I got a notecard announcing new arrivals I went over to take a look. Everything was wonderful and I bought a lot of other things but this jacket…oh this jacket is really inspired. I wish I could rez it right here in my RL! I think it has the look of Chanel—probably the quilted leather and pearls. And it comes in black, white,  blue, red, plum, blush and nude. (Bet you can’t buy just one) I have been wearing it for 3 days straight and I made a few outfits with. Thought I’d show you just 2. One with pants and one with a short skirt. Enjoy…and go take a look at Mimikri …take your lindens…you will want them.

On My Head, On Your Head

September 21, 2009

I’ve always been a huge fan of Megg Demina. Chapeau Tres Mignon was one of the first stores I found after arriving in SL. I was intrigued by Megg’s incredibly diverse and amazing collection which range from hats featuring a blue lobster or a grasshopper perched on your head to a Spanish Galleon floating above your curls.  Every hat she makes is full of whimsy and detail. Now fall is here and (yay!) she has released a new group of hats. All with pom-poms. Larger ones and smaller ones and a range of colors too. I took two of my favorites and made a couple of different outfits with them. I love this larger version of the pom-pom hat in black and white. (This hat comes in four other colors as well.) I decided to put it with something a little sophisticated to create a Parisian, walking-along-the-Seine feel. The shoes with anklets add to that look as does the short sleeved striped sweater from Pink. A “Chanel” bag and cuffed leather gloves lend the the final French touch.**weird_010

For the second outfit I picked the smaller hat in the tartan version. The scarf is from Musim and although it isn’t an exact match I think it works. The coat from Lelutka’s 2008 Fall collection has become a staple in my wardrobe…. I love the shape, the way it stands open and the tweedy texture. It is layered over a sweater from DeLa and a prim shirt from Ce Cubic Effect with a zippered front. (The shirt doesn’t show very well here but it is really cute. It blouses around the waist very realistically.)  Tesla’s Diva oxfords in red bring a little more color to the look. And a tip…remember when wearing hats it is important to find the right hair that works. In this case Lamb’s Egomaniacal (hehe—love the name) hair is flat enough that there is no need to mod the hair in order for the hat to look right. OK…got to run…..be sure to check out Megg’s wonderful hats….See ya, Elisabeth

Andiamo a Venezia!

June 2, 2009

Venetian Morning on the Grand Canal PortraitWhen I bought this cute t-shirt from Pink Outfitters I thought it had a summery, sort of nautical feel, but somehow once I added the straw hat…well it definitely had a Venetian feel…. sort of a gondolier’s striped t-shirt with the added cuteness of a lily right in the middle. So dressed for it, I hopped over to Venice to get into the total Venetian experience. The only thing not like Venice — there were no hordes of tourists! 🙂 But the beautiful architecture, the canals of sparkling water and the gondolas were all there.  So a quick trip to Venice and a beautiful sunrise over the Grand Canal. Ahhhhh! Andiamo!

Cello Practice

March 30, 2009

2cello-practice

When you play the cello you have to practice…but ahem….as you can see, occasionally I hit a flat note. 😦  But my cello is beautiful and best of all it comes with its own melodies that do actually always sound perfect. I also play the flute so I should (^^) spend a lot more time practicing. Both my cello and flute are from poco a poco where you can find some beautifully made musical instruments including harps, pianos, violas and violins. They all come with melodies and you can even buy extra ones just in case you feel like giving a concert for your friends. While playing I am wearing one of my favorite shorts outfits from Michami. It is jazzed up with python-printed tights (freebies!) and some amazingly bright jewelry from Fabulous and Icon. The leather jacket is from Muism. None of the items seen here are really new but I love them all, especially my Dejavu hair! Okies, got to run….shopping to do, enough practice!

❤ Elisabeth
