Taking the ferry home…

January 22, 2012

These photos were taken at the wonderful “Ferry” created by AM Radio.  Unhappily, it is no longer there but at least I got a few shots before it disappeared. All of Am Radio’s sim designs were/are iconic and I have been lucky enough to experience all of them.  We are fortunate that some are still on the grid to be appreciated. If you have been under a rock or are new to the virtual world then by all means search out some of his work. I made these pictures a while back but never posted. I know these are not just-released items but they are all great designs and I loved the Ferry so I when I found the photos I decided to post them. I had been obsessed with the hat from LaGyo and it was the inspiration for the outfit. It seemed a perfect match with the cinched linen high-waisted pants by Irene Campesi from So Many Styles.  Then I found the wonderful top by Leezu Baxter. Just beautiful! Also from LaGyo is the wicker bag with circle handle (which comes in many color choices) and the fantastic pink earrings! The earrings are color change so you can always make them work with your outfit. I really love everything Gyorgina does and her hats and bags this year have been just brilliant. The shoes from Aoharu Anexx are great little suede wedges with leather fringes and just a little toe showing. To finish it all off are some amber bracelets and a bobble ring from another great jewelry maker, Zaara Kohime.

In the winter season sunny days seldom come along in rl but here in our pixel world they are easy to come by.  So when the snow is falling outside my rl window it is great to escape and enjoy the sunshine on the grid. For my day in the sun I’m wearing one of Mon Tissu’s  mesh pencil skirts. Beautiful textures and lots ! of colors available. The grey top is also Mon Tissu —I love that it is long and you can wear it outside your skirt…it even has its own little belt. The top is really versatile and a little boho, it looks great on its own with just a pair of tights or jeans. The coat is a two-tiered, almost-military style from Lelutka …. I love the way it hangs open and looks so natural. The bag from LaGyo is really one of my favs this year, it adds lots of style with its huge size and great crocodile texture. It comes with a nice pose or two which is important for handbags unless you have an AO that can accommodate the bag-holding without the handbag ending up inside your body or over your head. Can’t stop without mentioning the hair from vive9…LOVE the wrap style (very chic) and the little wisps of hair escaping from the wrap. I absolutely ❤ the lace-up boots from JySyLilO. A great heel and the laces and zippers add an edgy quality.  More details and landmarks after the cut. Now get out in the sunshine, even if it is pixel sunshine.
See ya, Elisabeth

Ruffles and Bows

October 7, 2010

I love the new ruffled boleros by G. Fields. She has a free version (in pumpkin color) at her store..I liked it so much I trotted right down to buy the fatpack. It is shown here with long sleeves but it also comes in a mid-sleeve and cap-sleeve version (also with ruffles) and you can wear it with or without the ruffled collar which makes it really versatile. A great staple for any closet.

The other new item here is the super cute short dress (worn as a top) from SK Designs. The package comes with two different patterns, both for only 150 lindens (what a bargain). All this is layered over a blouse from Zaara.

And accessories are important here..I tried to pile as many on as possible. 😀  The asymmetrical hat is from Coco and the big bow scarf from Miel. It is great…comes with changeable color textures and built-in resizing script. Also..I want to thank say a big thanks to Sasy Scarborough for her help while I was working on this post….she let me use her pose stands and fixed mine that I somehow had broken. So thanks Sasy…big hugs.  Read more details and landmarks listed after the cut!

Going to Kowloon

April 3, 2010

Lately I’ve been in an exploring mood and I keep coming across the most amazing places. Kowloon is not a new sim and many of you probably know it since it is popular with photographers, but I didn’t. I enjoyed snooping around the nooks and crannies and taking a few pictures there as well. Kowloon sim is based on a walled city in China that existed until it was demolished in 1993.

(From Wikipedia) Kowloon Walled City was a Chinese military fort in Kowloon, Hong Kong, which became an enclave after the New Territories were leased to Britain in 1898. Following Japanese occupation during World War II, the Walled City developed into an extremely dense, largely ungoverned urban settlement. From the 1950s through the 1970s, it was controlled by Triads and had high rates of prostitution, gambling, and drug use. In 1987, the Walled City contained 33,000 residents within its 6.5-acre (0.03 km2; 0.01 sq mi) borders.

In January 1987, the Hong Kong government announced plans to demolish the Walled City. After an arduous eviction process, demolition began in March 1993 and was completed in April 1994. Kowloon Walled City Park opened in December 1995 and occupies the area of the former Walled City. Some historical artifacts from the Walled City, including its yamen building and remnants of its South Gate, have been preserved there.

My outfit was built around the Lelutka gift hair that came out this week. It is not the usual “pretty” hair, but I think it is a lot of fun and couldn’t wait to put something together to wear with it. The other thing new shown here is the fantastic pair of shorts from LG Boutique. I love the shape of these and the pattern is great too. You will certainly see them again in another styling.  Details and landmarks after the cut. See ya, Elisabeth

Pink is the new Black

September 5, 2009

Pretty in Pink2Ok, well maybe not. But I admit it. I must love pink. I typed pink into my inventory the other day and I couldn’t believe how much pink I actually had. It seems to have inundated my closet. The reason I had typed pink in the first place was that I had found some cute shorts and knee length pants at MNK Shop and was trying on various combinations with existing inventory pieces. Anyway I had fun and came up with a couple of looks I liked and so decided to share them. First of all let me say, if you haven’t been to MNK then by all means GO! Lots of really cute items. When I saw these I clicked on “buy” immediately and when I got home and tried them on I wasn’t disappointed. There were three different pant shapes in the package. (I only show two here but the third is cute too…a little like culottes.) The set of three pants is only 90 lindens—what a bargain 🙂 —and they come in two other colors too.

Pretty in Pink/3 shortsThe first look is with the puffy shorts and a sweater that is also from MNK. The sweater knit is a great texture and I love the shape of the bottom and how it stands out and doesn’t hug the body. It is also only 90 lindens and comes in six other colors as well. I put it with a prim vest from Sweetest Goodbye which worked well over the sweater prim.  I also love, love, love the purse from tres blah. Yummy. The book sticking out and the bow on the front really add a whimsical touch. The knit scarf is also from tres blah and just look at the cute little bird pin that comes on it. ❤

Pretty in Pink/knee pantsThe knee-length pants I put with an old favorite, the Lima trench coat from Armidi, but worn here only with the jacket layer. The shoes are Teese from Lelutka’s Spring Collection. I adore the chunkiness of the shoe and heel. The tote bag by Malt has a great suede texture and shape. It gives this look a slightly more serious tone. Anyway, hope you like the outfits. Stay pink and be happy.

See ya,
Elisabeth

Maltie Goodness

June 18, 2009

close up Malt purple jacketMalt recently released some incredibly cute suede jackets and skirts. You can buy them separately so mixing and mashing is easy. And the jacket is not just a jacket but can work as a vest, or a short sleeve jacket as well. There are several colors—all wonderful! Here I put together a couple of different looks with just two of the colors. I love the detail (hand stitching) and the suede texture is so fantastic I want to rub my pixel fingers all over it….soft!!! worn under it is one of the cutest tops around right now from Kookies— the Twiggy vest. It comes on all layers so you can wear it under, over, tucked in or out. I love it when designers give us that option…makes all the difference in putting things together. The Malt skirt and jacket also come on multiple layers. 🙂3 malt skirt and jacket

For the second version I made a super casual jeans look with the Raffia colored “vest”. I am wearing another vest under it..and a blouse under that for maximum layering fun.  Anyway, this is another winner from Malt and I think Khea Karas is one of the best designers in sl right now. Always raising the bar with her styles and textures. The fit on the skirt is really amazing and the belt is available as a separate piece too so you can use it with other outfits. Yay! The jeans are from Malt too and I love the way they fit. Oh and the hair from Foam (first look) is new to me. I love it. Nice and full and yet wispy too. If you haven’t been to Foam go it check out —they have lots of cute hair.
