Taking the ferry home…

January 22, 2012

These photos were taken at the wonderful “Ferry” created by AM Radio.  Unhappily, it is no longer there but at least I got a few shots before it disappeared. All of Am Radio’s sim designs were/are iconic and I have been lucky enough to experience all of them.  We are fortunate that some are still on the grid to be appreciated. If you have been under a rock or are new to the virtual world then by all means search out some of his work. I made these pictures a while back but never posted. I know these are not just-released items but they are all great designs and I loved the Ferry so I when I found the photos I decided to post them. I had been obsessed with the hat from LaGyo and it was the inspiration for the outfit. It seemed a perfect match with the cinched linen high-waisted pants by Irene Campesi from So Many Styles.  Then I found the wonderful top by Leezu Baxter. Just beautiful! Also from LaGyo is the wicker bag with circle handle (which comes in many color choices) and the fantastic pink earrings! The earrings are color change so you can always make them work with your outfit. I really love everything Gyorgina does and her hats and bags this year have been just brilliant. The shoes from Aoharu Anexx are great little suede wedges with leather fringes and just a little toe showing. To finish it all off are some amber bracelets and a bobble ring from another great jewelry maker, Zaara Kohime.

Pumpkin Eater

January 15, 2012

I am a big fan of hats, I have been since I joined SL but wow… they have really come a long way. When I found this wonderful hat from Georgyna (LaGyo) it was instant love and the start of this look. Soft and beautifully shaped it comes in many simply gorgeous colors and you can change the color of the button and string band with a built-in script. I added from Mon Tissue a great all around suede jacket. Love the way it cinches in at the waist and then flounces out. The pumps are also from Mon Tissue and the are the perfect little heel for a sporty look. The cropped pants—a length I love in RL as well—are from Willow. They are a huge favorite of mine right now.  I found an old favorite in my scarf drawer from Artilleri. It’s a classic, one of the first scarfs I ever bought and I still love it. I don’t know why I needed a briefcase for looking at pumpkins but it is cute. And the little shoulder purse is TokiDoki, a real ❤ with its embroidered flowers on the flap.

Who would have thought? A fantastic Frank Lloyd Wright museum exists in our pixel world. I found it merely by chance by but I enjoyed the museum as well as visiting the virtual recreations of some of Wright’s famous residential buildings. There is even a museum store where you can buy recreations of furniture, posters, lamps and virtual books. It is educational, beautiful and really worth seeing!

And my g0-to-the -museum attire? The look was inspired by a couple of different things. The first was the pillbox hat by Epoque with it’s peacock feather trim. The second was the sweater and pin from Surf Couture (a 50 linden Friday item). I added the BettyPage Voyager jean jacket and the chiffon skirt from So Many Styles. (The skirt is a staple in my closet..I love the realistic layers and it comes in many colors as well as a subtle dotted pattern.) I think accessories make the outfit… so not one but two gorgeous rings…one from Zaara and the other from Paper Couture.  Feathers became a theme….there are feathers on the necklace from Atelier AM and the earrings from Pididdle are peacock feathers that match the one on the hat. And Valena Glushenko’s (Orta) wonderful Stella clutch adds a little punch of color.

More credits and landmarks after the cut. And forgive me all the pictures but I wanted to show the museum as well as the outfit (the first one and the last two are at the museum). And by all means go check it our if you get a chance!

…would I wanna be anywhere else?  Those lyrics have been going around in my head all day. Just the chorus, but it won’t stop… Maybe it’s because finally the sun IS in the sky and it is shining.  Anyway maybe that is why I feel like wearing something fun. I got this great headpiece and new flower and lace skirt from LG Boutique (<3 Georgyna Larnia) that I wanted to wear so I started there. The little leopard tippet with pearl closing from Atelier AM is new too and something I really love but hadn’t worn yet so that went into the mix. You can’t have too many pearls so I added a long string of pearls (from AA as well). I liked the outfit worn with the red Mongolian fur from Fishy Strawberry  so I show it here both with and without. The little woven straw hand purse is from LG boutique too and it is sooooooooo cute…..and comes in tons of colors. Oh why, oh why would I wanna be anywhere else?

Wrapping it up

LeeZu1

LeeZu2I know you have seen this LeeZu top before as it is certainly not new and has been blogged many times. I am even wearing some really old pants from Last Call! But I really liked this outfit… so I decided to do a quick post…. The new things ( at least to me ) are the fabulous Cleo skin from Dutch Touch, the Maitreya hair and scarf and the brooch from LaGyo.  The messenger bag from Musim I’ve had since October but…oh…I really love it. I don’t want to admit to how many purses and bags I have in my virtual closet but suffice it to say…A LOT! And this really is one of the best. It’s beautifully made and comes with several poses—and good poses included with a purse make a huge difference as far as I am concerned. If you are just taking pictures you can do adjust the bag however you like, but if you want to walk around holding the purse and have it look good, you need the right poses that actually fit the bag. Of course we expect top quality from Musim and this bag is one example of how they do deliver. The Maitreya scarf—which actually comes in two parts—is fantastic. You can buy it with the hair already attached or if you are comfortable with modifying hair, you can use your own hair and just make it fit under the scarf. Whichever way you go, it is fantastic. Trés chic.  Finally I want to say that the brooch is really amazing. LaGyo is making some of the most interesting jewelry on the grid now…everytime I go in there I end buying something. So a warning, if you don’t want to spend lindens…don’t go!  🙂
Got to run….

Channeling Agyness Deyn

February 3, 2009

I love the look of model Agyness Deyn and this look was inspired by some of the things I see her wear. As a matter of fact, in a recent issue of Vogue she was wearing something very similar and I wanted to recreate the look in SL. A very important part is the white-blond unruly hair and the ubiquitous hat. From Akeyo, here in SL I found almost the same fedora she was wearing in the photo I saw (Akeyo makes fantastically textured and sculpted hats!) The scarf is Armidi but I modified it to make it much longer. Agyness wasn’t wearing these shoes but if she had been to Redgrave…… she would’ve been!!! These tennis shoe boots (atheletic heels is the Redgrave  name) are so cute and they come in several color combinations…so, really, go have a look. Anyways, here it is…my version of Agyness Deyn in SL!  See ya,

❤ Elisabeth

Parallel Loves

November 21, 2008

baxterblog

parallel love coat

I found 2 new things a couple of days ago and I wanted to wear them both. One was the super cute new hair from MMShair, Mary Kate and the second a little fur jacket from Parallel Love. (It comes in 5 colors and is a bargain at 30 Lindens…. so check it out!)  I felt like wearing a casual, but slightly upscale look so I decided to pair the jacket with a sweater I bought a while back but hadn’t worn yet….a wonderfully textured, off-the-shoulder from LeeZu Baxter. You can wear it long or short depending on the layer and it has prim collar, and sleeve cuffs. I added the optional belt and flared bottom (sold separately). The belt has a highly  detailed round rhinestone buckle that I love. To keep my neck warm, I added Ce Cubic Effects new stole and textured it myself with a faux animal print. Perfect for heading off to class with my new portfolio.

Hope you like it

❤ Elisabeth
