Lately I’ve been in an exploring mood and I keep coming across the most amazing places. Kowloon is not a new sim and many of you probably know it since it is popular with photographers, but I didn’t. I enjoyed snooping around the nooks and crannies and taking a few pictures there as well. Kowloon sim is based on a walled city in China that existed until it was demolished in 1993.
(From Wikipedia) Kowloon Walled City was a Chinese military fort in Kowloon, Hong Kong, which became an enclave after the New Territories were leased to Britain in 1898. Following Japanese occupation during World War II, the Walled City developed into an extremely dense, largely ungoverned urban settlement. From the 1950s through the 1970s, it was controlled by Triads and had high rates of prostitution, gambling, and drug use. In 1987, the Walled City contained 33,000 residents within its 6.5-acre (0.03 km2; 0.01 sq mi) borders.
In January 1987, the Hong Kong government announced plans to demolish the Walled City. After an arduous eviction process, demolition began in March 1993 and was completed in April 1994. Kowloon Walled City Park opened in December 1995 and occupies the area of the former Walled City. Some historical artifacts from the Walled City, including its yamen building and remnants of its South Gate, have been preserved there.
My outfit was built around the Lelutka gift hair that came out this week. It is not the usual “pretty” hair, but I think it is a lot of fun and couldn’t wait to put something together to wear with it. The other thing new shown here is the fantastic pair of shorts from LG Boutique. I love the shape of these and the pattern is great too. You will certainly see them again in another styling. One of my favorite stores this year is Donna Flora. So I really went crazy at the Accessory Fair when I hit the shop. The designer is Squinternet Larnia and her items were the inspiration for this outfit. I wanted a light and airy dress and found it at Happy Finds. This is the Mollusk dress from the Ephemeral Collection and it is so incredible..it really looks like organza. The jacket is an older one from Paper Couture but one of my favorites.
I am wearing earrings from Donna Flora’s set Delores. I am not wearing the beautiful necklace from the set but I wanted to show it so it is included in a separate shot below. This is the gold set but it comes in many other colors so go check it out. There is also a detail of the awesome purse. I had to buy it in several colors!!! I love, love, love the flowers on the front and the beading that hangs from the bottom. The hat is incredible. Here you actually only see the flower because the knit part of the hat is under my hair but it absolutely great.
The Accessory Fair runs until March 27. More info here. Taxi here.

I admit it…it has been a long time since my last post. Busy at work, busy at home and basically lacking inspiration. But I have been shopping and finding some wonderful stuff. Hooray! It is not all new….so you have probably seen some of these pieces before. Anyway, I love this new dress/top from Lelutka. The sculpting shapes are great and I love the knit textures. It comes with a wonderful belt that has an attached purse… but here I chose to put it with one of my favorite Maitreya belts. The hair and scarf are also Maitreya and they too are fabulously sculpted! The boots are recent releases from Kookie, Wow! Can she get any better? They are fantastic… I love the socks peeking out over the top them. From YS&YS is the purse in snow leopard. It rocks! I’ve blogged it before but it has to be one of my favorite bags. If you haven’t been there to see the bags and shoes, go check them out. I also included a large snapshot to show the new skin from Curio. <3 This is the new Cupid line and as always with Curio, it is beautiful! (To see any of the photos larger just click on them.)

Seems I’ve been lost for the past few weeks….traveling around in cold parts of the world….and no internet connections! Back home (finally) and I wanted to post these pictures that I took before I left —way back in 2009. When I put this together it was all new and I planned to blog it right away but … time got away from me as it seems to do during the holidays. But I really loved it so I wanted to share it with you.
The jacket and the purse are from Sey, one of my favorite stores. Sometimes things in sl are so special I really want them in the real world and both these items are like that. The ribbon in the hair came with the purse and I added to the headband from J’s. The tights are from Kyoot …the texture is great and I love the kneepads stitched on. Emma Gilmore (Surf Couture) made the yummy boots. They have been all over the place so you have certainly seen them before but they are so cute and I love how you can tint the socks to match the outfit. Boom did the great sweater, it comes in many colors but I absolutely love this icicle color! So, lots to catch up on, I know I missed a lot while I was gone but more posts to come soon! Anyway…Happy New Year to you all and hope 2010 is a good one.

In the deep, dark of December we all love the thick, rich textures of warm sweaters and coats. Well at least I do. These two outfits are a mix of both new and old pieces and I chose all of them for the wonderful textures and shapes. Certainly one thing that has evolved a lot over the past year is the sheer inventiveness of all the wonderful sculpty clothes and accessories. I think Cocoro Lemon from Coco makes some of the most interesting examples around. This bulky red sweater layered over it’s own blouse is just one example. <3 The laced up boots from Anexx in red and Kookies’ Athena black short boot are more fabulous masterpieces of sculpting and texturing. The twill coat from M.R.M. has been in my closet for a while now but is still a big favorite….it has a fantastic herringbone texture so realistic, it practically makes me itch. Showing from beneath the coat is the bottom prim from a Milk Motion tee. Both tops are layered over full skirts. I love the way the skirts look under these shaped tops! I don’t want to forget the purses…they are both fairly new releases…The red ruffly one (a 50 linden Friday item <3) is from Tres Blah and it comes in several other colors. The other is from YS&YS. The one shown here is in snow leopard but it comes in both plain leather or in different fur textures in several colors. Oh and as a bonus it comes stuffed with its own reading materials stuffed inside. You should most definitely check out the bags and shoes at YS&YS if you haven’t already! (They make beautiful skins too). Anyway, I am loving the cold weather and all the lovely new clothes and accessories hitting the stores this month. Hope you are too!

Yes, plenty cold and lots of the white stuff falling. But we can stay toasty and warm with all the cute furs and winter gear around the grid right now. I love the all-white looks for snow. And now you can even find skins made for winter. Gala Phoenix at Curio has done some really cute skins that look as though you have been out in the cold with rosy cheeks and flushed skin. This one even has frosty white eyeshadow to match the sparkly snow. <3 The fur stole from DP yumyum with the little fringe trim is perfect for keeping the shoulders covered and the shiny pants from Lelutka are definitely on my favorite list. They are beautifully rendered and look great in every color. Here they are perfect apres-ski pants but put them with heels and they are sexy and sleek. Kookies’ boots are just yummy….and they come in so many colors, you won’t be able to choose! Details on the rest of the outfit are listed after the cut. Take care and stay warm!

I know you have seen this LeeZu top before as it is certainly not new and has been blogged many times. I am even wearing some really old pants from Last Call! But I really liked this outfit… so I decided to do a quick post…. The new things ( at least to me ) are the fabulous Cleo skin from Dutch Touch, the Maitreya hair and scarf and the brooch from LaGyo. The messenger bag from Musim I’ve had since October but…oh…I really love it. I don’t want to admit to how many purses and bags I have in my virtual closet but suffice it to say…A LOT! And this really is one of the best. It’s beautifully made and comes with several poses—and good poses included with a purse make a huge difference as far as I am concerned. If you are just taking pictures you can do adjust the bag however you like, but if you want to walk around holding the purse and have it look good, you need the right poses that actually fit the bag. Of course we expect top quality from Musim and this bag is one example of how they do deliver. The Maitreya scarf—which actually comes in two parts—is fantastic. You can buy it with the hair already attached or if you are comfortable with modifying hair, you can use your own hair and just make it fit under the scarf. Whichever way you go, it is fantastic. Trés chic. Finally I want to say that the brooch is really amazing. LaGyo is making some of the most interesting jewelry on the grid now…everytime I go in there I end buying something. So a warning, if you don’t want to spend lindens…don’t go!
Got to run….

Patchwork is cute and just a little retro and these shorts from Pink Outfitters are both. (They’re not new, but I forgot I had them and how cute they were!) I love the embroidery on the back pocket. <3 They are worn here with the Billie lace tank top…also from PO…double cute! The long-sleeved thermal top in robin’s egg blue is from Pig. These thermals are wardrobe staple must-haves, especially now that it is getting cooler outside. The jacket is from enSvale and it is probably my favorite denim jacket right now. The detailing is just perfect. Look at the seams on the back….. The accessories add some fun and every item shown here is high quality in both the texturing and the design. J’s engineer boots which fold up or down and change colors (with the fatpack option) are beautifully made. Everything from Maitreya is great and Maitreya’s Coin Belt is no exception. It gives the look a little weight as do the Goth Necklaces from Fashionably Dead. And the pony tail hair with beret is yummy. The beret changes colors and textures along with the band around the pony tail. My pixels are happy! Hope yours are too.

Wow! I just found my all-time favorite leather jacket! Mimikri Kit has really outdone herself this time. When I got a notecard announcing new arrivals I went over to take a look. Everything was wonderful and I bought a lot of other things but this jacket…oh this jacket is really inspired. I wish I could rez it right here in my RL! I think it has the look of Chanel—probably the quilted leather and pearls. And it comes in black, white, blue, red, plum, blush and nude. (Bet you can’t buy just one) I have been wearing it for 3 days straight and I made a few outfits with. Thought I’d show you just 2. One with pants and one with a short skirt. Enjoy…and go take a look at Mimikri …take your lindens…you will want them.

I promised no more pink but —Oops— I still ended up in pink jeans. Well at least the rest is black and white. None of this is new I know, all of these things were items I had in inventory and put together. I have been cleaning and sorting inventory lately and trying not to buy new stuff until I get the closet cleaned out. I don’t even know what I have in there. But as I dig I keep finding all kinds of good things. It is sort of like shopping without the pain of spending. The starting point with this outfit came when I found this hair-with-hat combination that I bought ages ago and then never wore. Why not you ask? ’Cause I didn’t remember it was there!! Yes, I am a little frustrated… I need a new system for sorting things in my closet. Well ok, I am still working on it.
Anyway, the beautiful hat and hair from ::69:: started it off and I decided to wear my black Aoharu velvet jacket that I love…it has a great shape. I found a cute sheer blouse from Pink Outfitters that I hadn’t worn yet to layer under it and the beautiful vest is from fri.day and it comes on all layers (yay) and is nice and long. The pink (!) jeans are from Emery and I love the way the wrinkles are…so, so wrinkled…just like I get in rl.
The Maitreya desert boots rock and I pulled on a pair of fat nubby white socks to go with them. Oh and of course the beautiful white patent camelia brooch from COCO &CO (just like the rl Chanel one). And only 50 lindens! It comes in black patent and fabric tweeds too. The only new thing I am wearing is a Curio skin that I really love. I have been a fan of Gala Phoenix forever and recently this new skin, Beach, was introduced. It has to be my favorite from Curio to date. It even comes in two different make-up lines. Anyway that is why I did the portrait shot, so you could see this lovely skin.
Soooooo…back to closet sorting…I can’t wait to find some great little surprises.
